That way I could bypass RSS feeds altogether and just go straight from my Blogroll sidebar to the site itself.īut having installed this RSS feed reader into FireFox, I now have something which is equal to, or possibly even better than that. I wish instead that they would implement basic aggregator functionality, indicating when something is new to me (not in terms of time), how many new items there are, and then de-highlight when I've read them. I have a Blogrolling sidebar in FireFox, which is just great, but it only ever tells me when a site has 'new' content according to the time limit I have set. What I had been wanting is for Blogrolling to add a little bit more functionality to their service. I'm a one click kinda gal – I like instantaneousness in my browsing. Not far, admittedly, but enough so that it irritated me. FIREFOX RSS READER PLUSPlus it would delete from the history any feeds I'd already read, which is ok, I guess, but sometimes I'd want to go back and check something and I'd have to dig for it. But it never really satisfied my blog reading needs – it restricts me to whatever is in the RSS feed, and accessing the actual blog page from the RSS feed is a clumsy, involving opening links in new tabs and not always getting the site but sometimes getting the feed instead. I looked at a few other readers before setting on Bloglines. Sadly, Syndirella was highly unstable and crashed more often than it worked, so that got ditched. There's something more satisfying about reading blogs as their author intended them to be read, with all the design and pictures and fandangles (and sometimes, actual content) that are on the blog itself but which get stripped out of the RSS feed. I liked Syndirella because it told me when sites had updated but also allowed me to actually view the blog, not just the results of the feed. I initially tried Syndirella – a desktop app that acted both as RSS checker and browser. I wish I could say something similar about an RSS reader. I love FireFox – so much sexier than IE, so much less bloated than Netscape, it really is a good browser and if you haven't converted yet, I strongly recommend that you do so. I've just updated FireFox to version 0.9 and downloaded an RSS reader extension.

They both play Blu-rays and DVDs as well as media files off a home network or USB stick. Both consoles play the vast majority of games out there, so choosing one over the other won't block you out of a lot of content. #PS4 MORE DISK SPACE PS4#The Venn diagram representing PS4 versus Xbox One has tons of overlap. The Xbox One offers more streaming multimedia apps than the PS4, but the big ones like Netflix, Amazon and HBO Go are available on both platforms. Long story short, I find PS4 easier to use. I also like the PS4's interface over the Xbox One's, even though Microsoft has recently revamped its console's dashboard for the better. Capturing footage, screenshots and sharing these items is more seamless on the PS4. Multiplatform games tend to perform better on the PS4 and installation time for games is noticeably quicker. Last generation I was partial to the Xbox 360, but this time around I lean toward the PS4. #PS4 MORE DISK SPACE PS2#PS4 offers PlayStation Now, a subscription streaming service that has improved since its launch in addition to PS2 emulation support that is slowly trickling out. #PS4 MORE DISK SPACE DOWNLOAD#You can also download legacy 360 titles through Xbox Live as well. Xbox One offers limited backward compatibility with a selection of games (which is promised to grow) as long as you own the original disc. Legacy support and backward compatibility If online gaming is important to you and you want to enjoy that with friends, this is quite the important detail to consider. This may seem like a no-brainer, but find out which consoles your friends are playing. Xbox One isn't totally devoid of indie titles, it's just not as fleshed out at the moment. It's worth noting that the PS4 offers many more independent games compared with the Xbox One's library, so if that's a sticking point PS4 will have you covered. More of a fan of Uncharted and games like The Last Guardian and Bloodborne? Then PS4 is the way to go. Are you a Halo, Gears of War and Forza Motorsport type of player? With Mike Finoia, he co-hosts the Comes A Time podcast, who recently had Rich & Jesse as guests. Oteil Burbridge is, of course, the bassist in Dead & Co. In July and August, the band spent time overdubbing vocals and a few selected other parts, with the dates assembled below. Listen to a playlist of the album semi-finalists here. First, they bounced tour highlights down to a set of sub-reels, to determine which performances would be polished for album inclusion. Over the next few months, the band would turn some 73 hours of tape into a triple-LP set, to be released in the fall. ‘72 tour, at Winterland on the afternoon of June 6th. Garcia, at least, caught one the first shows of the Rolling Stones’ U.S. Don’t sleep on Europe ’72.Though Jerry Garcia was back onstage with Merl Saunders and friends in San Francisco by June 3rd, 1972, the Grateful Dead had six weeks off from performing following their return from two months in Europe, give or take a high-profile gig at the Hollywood Bowl. With archival Dead releases coming out every few months through the excellent Road Trips series, it can be easy to overlook each new one. The ragged harmonies on “Loser,” among other tracks, would likely have been redone back in the ‘70s, although the beautiful harmonies on “Sing Me Back Home” show that sometimes no artificial sweeteners are required. Unlike the original Europe ’72, these performances appear to be untouched in the studio. Check out Garcia’s passionate vocals on “Bertha” and “Sing Me Back Home,” or his fiery guitar solos on “Greatest Story Ever Told” and “Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad” for proof. The Dead is energetic throughout and seems excited to be playing soon-to-be-classics that were new material at the time. In fact, you could make a strong argument that many of these songs are performed as well as the band has ever played them. The tracks on this collection are well-chosen. (This was less of a problem in the ‘60s and ‘70s than later in their career, but it always existed). 2 is that it avoids the problem that Deadheads tend to sweep under the rug, namely that the band could be awfully inconsistent from night to night. Perhaps the best thing about Europe ’72, Vol. Of course, there’s also some of the aimless noodling that drives non-fans up a wall. There are moments of incredible improvisation, from interesting jazzy explorations to pulse-quickening moments when Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir’s guitars intertwine perfectly, Phil Lesh’s bass thunders and the rhythm section locks in. Then there’s Disc Two, which is centered around an hour-long jam of “Dark Star”, “Drums” and “The Other One.” As you might expect of something that long, you can find just about anything you’re looking for. Is there any band working today that could pull all of that off so well? On disc one alone, you can find them singing the blues (“Next Time You See Me,”), going country (“Dire Wolf”), twisting a classic pop hit into their own style (“Good Lovin’”) and singing a lovelorn ballad (“Sugaree”). Over the course of nearly three hours, the Dead back up the case some have made for them as the quintessential American band. It’s also the place you’d want to start if you were trying to convince someone why they should care about the band. 2 captures the band at the peak of its powers and is among the best of the band’s dozens of live releases. While the real hardcore fans with money to burn will want the 73-CD collection that contains every concert from the entire tour, the combination of the original Europe ’72 and Volume 2 should satisfy everyone else. Nearly 40 years later, the Europe ’72 tour remains legendary among Deadheads. It also sounded great, although some of that was due to harmonies being overdubbed in the studio. While there were several other live Dead albums out there, the triple album was the one that best demonstrated the group’s stylistic diversity. One was to be taken to a show by an older sibling, friend or relative. Back before nearly every note the Grateful Dead ever played was available at your fingertips, there were generally two ways people were introduced the live Dead experience. Searching on the Parts Express web-site, I see that they carry a number of AMT tweeters ranging in price from about US$20 each to US$120 each. While ESS still makes speakers employing this technology (down to around 800 Hz), the patents have expired and many companies now build variations on this theme. Heil invented this concept in the early 1970’s and applied it a line of speakers built by the firm of ESS in South El Monte, California. When they do that at an audio rate, sound is produced. When the pleats are squeezed together, on one half of their cycle, they compress the air between each fold, displacing it and when the pleats expand again, on the other half of the cycle, they rarefy the air as it rushes in to refill the voids between each fold. The electromagnetic “motor” is arranged so that instead of moving a disc-shaped diaphragm in and out like a normal speaker driver, this one squeezes the pleats in a manner that is perpendicular (rather than parallel to) the desired air displacement. The diaphragm in the tweeter consists of a pleated Polyamide sheet arranged so that the pleated area is facing the listener. Of course, the same thing is occurring inside the bellows as well and that out-rush of air is what powers the instrument and vibrates the various reeds to play the notes. The compressing pleats push air out from between the pleats as that space is eliminated by the compression. If you place your hand close to the accordion’s bellows while someone is playing it, you will feel a rush of air as the accordion is squeezed together. When one pulls the bellows back apart, those spaces re-appear. In an accordion, when one squeezes the bellows together the space between the pleats goes away. The AMT differs from conventional tweeters in that instead of using a piston-like diaphragm the way most magnetic tweeters operate, this technology works similarly to the way an accordion functions. Product managers perform market research. They work with the project manager along with other team members every stakeholder to get to a successful product launch. Product managers define the why, when, and what of the specific product that the business is going to build throughout the product development process. The role covers strategic and tactical works and must offer cross-functional leadership with departments such as the engineering team, marketing, customer service, and sales. The product management role entails analyzing the market and competition while creating a vision for a product that is unique and offers value to consumers that meets their demands. They work with the project owner, project manager, and other team members to get to a successful product launch. The PM role can vary slightly from company to company and can, but not necessarily include, analyzing market trends, analyzing market trends, conducting a business analysis by forecasting and gauging profit and loss, as well as managing relations with external stakeholders. It is an organizational role that outlines a strategic roadmap for a product or product line. They lead a cross-functional team that works on a product and improves its features. The product manager is responsible for guiding a product to success. The agile product owner and project management role must work in sync to have a good final product. And while their end goal should be the same, they carry differing roles within the process of product management to get there. The importance of delivery and optimization means that both the product manager and product owner should have the same goal. Figuring out the difference between a product owner and a product manager can help in dividing that rift. This is difficult to do if there is a problem between positions. This is achieved by making sure product features are optimized and delivered in a quality fashion in a timely manner. The purpose of a business is to create products that offer meaning and service to the customer, as well as to investors of the company. There are many factors that play into what a product manager or product owner does such as: ThThere's no black or white answer to who must be part of running the product show because these two roles operate differently in different companies and in varying development process structures as well. I am sure the people in these roles would have different answers to these questions when asked, especially if it’s their role being evaluated! Heck, ask everyone else and each team member will probably have a different answer! Who is in charge of product development? Can there be one without the other? What’s really the difference between these two product management roles and how does each affect the final product? The classic product owner vs product manager debate. Spend your time building great products, automate the rest. There may not be as much combat as people might prefer, but part of the reductionist nature of TLG is accepting that the gameplay isn't wholly indicative of what exactly 'it' is. This ability is lost for much of the adventure, coming into play heavily during the final assault on The White Tower. Properly stimulated, its tail can act as a weapon, shooting arcs of lightning to wherever it's directed by the boy's mirror. Statue-like knights, along with various artifacts, send Trico into a murderous rage, ripping apart its enemies with reckless abandon and no regard for friend or foe. It's not all joyous romps in overgrown gardens. Once you see Trico lazily rolling in a puddle of water or just being happy to get a chance to stretch its legs, it gets harder to believe this animal is imaginary. Witnessing it overcome this weakness is one of the highlights of the game. Analogous to my cat's fear of vacuum cleaners, Trico has an intense aversion to stained-glass eyes. It has likes, dislikes, and always seems to know when it's time to eat. The illusion that Trico is sentient or an entity or some sort is performed masterfully. Dog owners will be hard-pressed not to recognize a head tilted in idle curiosity, while the cat crowd will see the subdued bemusement inside its 'mind', as it bats at barrels or hanging chains. There's no denying that Trico is charming. For the most part everything works, but it's going to take the understanding of a good pet owner to accept TLG's flaws, because many of them are by design. However, the game's highlights and low points weigh heavily on Trico's massive shoulders, and the burden it bears becomes all too clear. Successfully manipulating Trico to stand on its hind legs or properly square up for a jump is always a cause for celebration. The boy and Trico must guide one another through the task at hand, a unison of teamwork and patience that makes basic movement feel like an accomplishment. Though the premise is as simple as it sounds, its execution quickly becomes complicated. Legends tell the tale of this cat/bird/dog-like creature, but a few removed spears, shackles, and a concussion or seven later, the two form an unlikely connection to escape their confines as best they can. Upon awakening in the derelict ruins of an area known as 'the Nest', a boy is horrified to discover that chained up next to him is Trico: ferocious man-eating terror of the sky. After discovering an artifact from his youth, a village elder recants his ordeal. Similar to Fumito Ueda's previous work (which is also about love), TLG takes a minimalist approach to its storytelling it's more of a garnish than its reason for being. Anyone who has ever formed this bond with an animal will do so all over again in The Last Guardian, and those that haven't will discover the joys of saying hello for the first time as long as they're brave enough to say goodbye. But regardless of the unfamiliar territories we're only just beginning to explore, what ultimately might be the most pure, innocent expression of love can be summed up in three words: man's best friend. From the classic love story of my childhood, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, to the quasi-romantic feelings I had for that teriyaki sub as a confused young man, I can only imagine the depths of the dimensions, realms, and realities the concept can traverse. Love can take many forms, even hate - it's complicated. By Issa Maki, posted on 08 January 2021 / 2,491 Views
